DNA

To start the Site Specific project we all went away to find a place that we thought we could perform and then come up with the an idea that we could perform at this site. I found a pub in Gillingham named 'The Barge'. The interior of this pub is designed to look like a Barge ship. I thought thats this would be an interesting location as we could use the setting as either a pub or a boat.

The idea I came up with was to base the play around the true events of Elliot Ness and Al Capone.T felt that this idea would be both interesting and opening up a lot of research opportunities. After we all sat down and discussed the ideas we had come up with, we decided that coming up with a play with equal parts for everyone would be very difficult and that we gave already devised a lot for Things To Ruin and we felt a little worn out after devising that play. So we have decided to do a scripted play instead. This will save time as we do not have long enough to created a piece on our own.

The idea that we have settled on doing is a play named 'DNA' by Dennis Kelly. As the play is set mostly in a woods it was a smart choice to use this play for our Site Specific Project. We were all given a script and we had a read through of the play and decided that this was indeed the play that we wanted to do. The next lesson we were given our parts and had another read through.

We have now started to set out the play and started to create the personalities that we want our characters to have. My goal for next lesson is to create a character chart and to come up with a personality for my Character.
